Our philosophy

Sofia Clara Interiors & Gardens is a full-service interior and garden design firm working between Lausanne and London. Our goal is to help you create a home that will be a beautiful and functional backdrop to years of new memories. Our first job will be to listen to you, understand how you live and what inspires you. We want to know as much as you would like to tell us - about the places you have travelled to, the objects that inspire you, and the ideas that most excite you. We aim to design a space that reflects your personality, works with the architecture of the house, and that feels anchored in its wider surroundings, while making the process as enjoyable and smooth as possible.

A little bit about me

This journey kicked off when I designed and opened two restaurants in Lausanne together with friends. As people visited and enjoyed these spaces, I turned my focus to interiors and gardens. I now work predominantly on residential design in Switzerland. My Anglo-Saxon and Latin roots are probably the biggest influences on my aesthetic. I am drawn to the warmth, colours and rusticity of Mediterranean design, and the layers of pattern and antiques of British country homes. While I have developed my own aesthetic, my approach to design is always client-led. I seek to understand how you live and where it is that you feel most yourself. Good design can certainly facilitate your dream lifestyle. Over the last few years, I have had great fun working with skilled artisans to create bespoke pieces for clients’ homes and gardens. We will soon be launching a small collection of creative homeware products aligned with our design ethos.

Education

I started my further education at the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne studying Hospitality Management with a specialisation in entrepreneurship. Studying business from a hotelier’s perspective taught me to be particularly process-oriented and service-focused. I trained formally as a designer at the London College of Garden Design. I believe in continued education, am deeply curious, and love learning from the many skilled professionals that I have the pleasure of working with.
