WEATHERED PLANT POTS

I’m such a sucker for details and now that my place is pretty much furnished (that took a while!) I can get to the fun stuff; all the little projects that make a space special.

I had a few bright orange terra cotta pots dotted around the house that I bought as they were cheap and because I needed to house my many many plants that I can’t really seem to keep alive but can’t stop buying either. Terra cotta is lovely but orange doesn’t fit into every space so I gave them a very quick and easy makeover and I love how they turned out!

white washed terra cotta potsThis is such a simple DIY idea that can turn cheap orange terra cotta pots into unique weathered white pots. Say goodbye to lusting over those ridiculously overpriced weathered pots in the furniture shops. No? Is that just me?

All you need is:

  • Terra cotta pots and saucers
  • White paint (I used acrylic but plain white wall paint would also work)
  • A paintbrush
  • Fine sandpaper

DIY potsUse a damp or just slightly wet paintbrush to dab the white paint onto the pot. Make sure to get right into the ridges and under and over the edges of both the saucer and the pot.

DIY terra cotta potsI really like how these turned out and now I feel like I want to paint everything white and make it look weathered and shabby chic. Are you with me?
