I’ve missed blogging waaaay too much and although my website isn’t completely finalised, I couldn’t wait to share it and get back to blogging. I am so excited to share the new layout for sofiaclara.com. I have moved from Blogspot to WordPress where I, with the help of some friends, have been able to create something much more visual and easier to navigate. I can’t wait to hear what you think!

I can’t believe how long it has been since my last post. My last posts were months ago and ever so much has happened since then. I got a full time job after graduating and am working on my own start-up company totally unrelated to the blog.

I couldn’t think of a better way to welcome you all back than with this fantastic burger bun recipe! I love burgers and homemade burger buns are just so much better than shop-bought buns. Welcome back to sofiaclara.com – I’ve got tons to share with you.

Makes 6 burger buns. Ingredients: 160ml milk, 120ml water, 1 packet of dry yeast, 550 g plain flour, 1 dessert spoon caster sugar, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 2 eggs, 30g melted butter. Method: Mix milk, tepid water and yeast in a bowl and leave to sit for 10 minutes. In a separate bowl mix flour, sugar and salt and incorporate the milk mix and 1 of the eggs. Bring together into a firm ball. Add melted butter and knead for 10 minutes. Place back in the bowl, cover with a damp tea-towel and leave to rise in a warm place for about an hour. Split the dough into 6 equal parts and form into balls. Place dough balls on a baking tray and leave to rise for another hour in a warm place. Preheat the over to 200ºC. Once the buns have risen, whisk an egg up and brush the buns over with the egg wash and sprinkle with a seed mix. Bake for 15 minutes, leave to cool and enjoy the best burger eveeer!
