When I make a recipe that turns out exactly the way I imagine, I have to force myself not to eat all of whatever it is so someone else can try it and I can hear all those mmm yum sounds.

But other times, a recipe is just so good I can’t hold back and just finish the plate off right there and then. That’s what happened with these apple chips. These are my favourite snack of the moment – you wouldn’t imagine how crunchy these are and they require absolutely no added sugar. All you need is apples and ground cinnamon.

Believe me, you’ll never want a bag of shop-bought apple chips after trying these.

I love how if you don’t core the apples, the seeds fall out as you cut the slices and leave these beautiful star cut-outs in the middle of the widest slices.

Preheat your oven to 100°C. Use a mandolin to cut the apples into fine slices.

apple slicesBake in the oven at 100°C for 2.5 hours. Turn the apples over after 1.5 hours (the edges should have started to curl) and swap the trays around moving the bottom tray to the top of the oven so they bake evenly. After 2.5 hours, turn the oven off, open the door of the oven just slightly and leave the apple chips in the cooling oven. This will ensure they really crisp up.

dried apple slices recipeI would love to tell you how long these keep but I have never made a batch that lasted longer than a day, that’s how good they are!

I know I say this all the time, but if there is one recipe to make on this blog, do me a favour and just try making these. They are SO easy, SO delicious and a million times better than any shop-bought fruit crisps. xS
