By Sofia Clara is the umbrella name for all of the interior decor projects that I work on. I decorate shop windows, apartments, offices and restaurants. My focus is on creating a functional space that you will love within your budget: from a combination of IKEA and flea market finds, to all designer furniture, something 100% handmade, or anything in between.
Le Pointu is a popular restaurant in central Lausanne that I decorated in September 2016. The decor is homey and comfortable with a number of pieces that are entirely handmade including the large central light fixture which was made from two old wooden beams found in a garage. I like upcycling furniture and integrating natural materials to give spaces a homey and comfortable look.
The office below is one of two rooms decorated for four female therapists working in Lausanne. You can see the full transformation photos here. We were working on a very tight budget – with less than 2’000 CHF (just under £1’500) for the furniture for two rooms. That’s just the kind of challenge I like!
“It was so helpful to have Sofia behind our project. We knew from her other work that she has fantastic taste and just the right touch that could help us transform our office space to something warm and inviting. Mission accomplished! We were so impressed with her ability to pull together our team’s different opinions, needs, and our limited budget to make something cohesive that works for all of us. Thank you Sofia!” – Julianna
The shop window below was decorated for Cuppin’s, a concept store in Lausanne. The brief was to make something feminine and romantic. All of the shop windows that I decorate have a considerable handmade element. This specific example includes an oversized macrame hanging.
“Last May, we had the opportunity to collaborate for the first time with Sofia for our shop window’s new set up. Sofia has immediately understood our codes and environnement . At the same time, she had a very clear creative mind of what she wanted :-). She has designed and made the whole project with passion and loads of dedication. On a more personal note, she is an extremely lovely person to work with and this project has been such a pleasure to manage! Looking forward to the next one!” – D.Basic, co-founder of Cuppin’s
My favourite examples of home decor revamps tend to be my own spaces (like my living room below) but I’m obviously totally biased. When I work with clients, I adapt to their taste and make sure that the space is functional for them. The whole process starts with a questionnaire to define your tastes, picking out favourite pieces in your current space, any dos and don’ts or things you love/things you hate, and that’s where all the inspiration comes from. These are definitely some of my favourite projects!
Whatever decor project you have in mind, don’t hesitate to get in touch if you want to talk it over and have a little brainstorm. I’d love to hear from you!
