“I’m going to make everything around me beautiful – that will be my life.” I can’t even remember how old I was when I first read that Elsie de Wolfe quote. It’s one of those things that I must have read on a fridge magnet (you know, in the olden days when everyone had fridge magnets) and it just always stuck me with.

I love decorating my home and making everything in it beautiful and functional. I like living in a space and adding to it little by little and not buying something until I’m so sure that it will be loved and fit in my space just the way I imagine it. I picked out a few pieces on La Redoute recently and although they are seemingly small things, I feel like they have really pulled the space together. With decor, it’s all in the details isn’t it?

Bedside essentials

Here are a few little things I’ve loved having around the bedroom over the last few weeks:

A bedside drawer equivalent

La Redoute have such a lovely selection of decorative glass boxes that I never really saw a use for until I kept knocking earrings, lip balm and pens off my window sill and down through the gap between the wall and my bed onto the dusty floor below. Hello, fishing around in the dark for your minuscule earrings when all you wanted was a sip of water! I don’t have a bedside drawer so this has been a nice little substitute to put all of my little bedside bits and bobs into. This is the specific box I got but they come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and colours.

Photos of friends

On my window sill, I also have a photo in a lovely little metal and glass frame that my best friend bought me. It’s a photo from a holiday in Madrid with B and Lily and it’s just the nicest memory and always makes me smile – mainly because of the series of ridiculously embarrassing photos that were taken shortly after that I’m awkwardly reminded of every time I look at it.

It’s slightly broken so I’m looking for a replacement and there are so many cute frames out there. I particularly like this set of three – I’ve just got to find a wall to hang them on.

Linen bedsheets & pillow cases

I know, I know, 100% natural, quality bed sheets are such a luxury and quite the investment but ohhh the joy I get from getting into a beautiful, crisp bed. I have just got this pink linen sheet and the two matching pillow covers to go with my floral sheets and it’s just so lovely to crawl into bed every singly night. Linen bedsheets are a must to me.

Sofia Clara homeDecorative pillows

OK, decorative pillows are totally useless and how much time do I actually spend in my bedroom when I’m not in bed? You’re right, none at all, but I think you got the message – I’m a sucker for a plushy bed so why not add excessive amounts of pillows that mean you spend ages making and unmaking your bed every day? Sounds like a good use of time to me.

Natural wicker basket

I hadn’t quite decided what I was going to do with this basket when I chose it but as it was sitting there empty, I ended up throwing my pillows into it (nothing like a bit of late night pillow basket ball) before getting into bed and it’s quite nice actually. Wicker baskets add a bit of texture to my super soft and girly bedroom which felt necessary.

La RedouteComfy PJs

Mmm PJs… the most warn item in my wardrobe by far (and that’s an understatement). You might have seen these Intimissimi PJs on my Instagram account recently but I love how they go with the rest of the bedroom.

…beautiful down to the very smallest detail.

Intimissimi PJsSo there we have it – that’s how my little bedroom is coming together since my last post. I used to get frustrated with how long finishing a space would actually take me but I’m just enjoying the process these days, adding to it bit by bit and loving living in it, whatever state of finished it’s at. Take time to live in a space and think about the little things that would make you love living in it even more :).

Thanks for stopping my for a read and thank you all for all the love on my last post. I love that you’re all so interested in the small makers, creators and designers. See you back here soon – I’ve got some big decor projects coming up and I’m super excited!

Big bisous xS
