Things have been a little quiet on the blog recently because I have been SO busy. The other day, as one of my friends and I were painting tables, she said that she wished you guys knew what I was up to and that you didn’t think I wasn’t just slacking and not posting anything. I have to say, I have been dying to put this post up for way too long but I just couldn’t find the time. You should see my eye bags! I think it’s safe to say, I’m pretty beat.

So, here’s the big news: for the last two months I’ve been working on the entire decor of a new restaurant opening in Lausanne AND as of October, I’ll be serving brunches every Saturday and Sunday with recipes from the blog! I am SO so excited! I can’t quite believe this is actually happening!

I’ve been working with 5 guys from the region on the opening for the last couple of months and the grand opening is in a few days so today, I thought I’d give you a little peek inside a very DIY restaurant.

Come on in!

The place is called Le Pointu. It’s on Rue Neuve 2, 1003 Lausanne near La Riponne – which is slowly, but quite surprisingly, becoming one of my favourite areas in town. La Riponne has been one of the “sketchier” places in town for a little while but so many cool places are popping up around here.

The restaurant has been closed for about two years and five friends (Mathias, Arthur, Cedric, Steve and Vincent) recently decided to take it over. I was beyond excited when they asked me to get involved with my blog to take care of all the decor DIY style AND offer “Les Brunchs de Sofia Clara” on the weekends with something slightly different to what you normally find around town. I’m talking acai bowls, smoothie jars, scones, waffles and so much more!

Alright, enough talk – let’s have a peek inside. Bare with me, the place isn’t quite finished but it’s starting to come along nicely.

Yesterday, we received the second of two large furniture deliveries including the high bar stools and the final light fixtures which I have literally just finished screwing in.

Le Pointu Lausanne2

Le Pointu LausanneHere’s a first look at the whole space.

We’re still missing decor on the walls, cushions, some furniture which will be arriving little by little, as well as sorts of bits and pieces here and there but this is the main room.

The table and the hanging light fixture are the two main DIY pieces (that I drew and the boys made) but there are so many little DIY pieces all over the place. Over the next few weeks I’ll be posting the full DIY posts.

Just look at this light fixture! I cannot tell you how much of a pain it was to get it up there but I LOVE how it fills the space.

It’s made from two wooden beams found in in of the guys’ garages and wrapped with exposed light bulbs.

DIY light hangingThe restaurant that was here before was called Le Lavaux and, because this is a historic building, we were asked, by La Ville de Lausanne, to keep the original sign which is a little confusing but we’re trying to make it work.

Le Lavaux LausanneMy next big challenge is decorating behind the bar and the main wall on the right which is still pretty bare.

I’ve started a little collection of colourful bottles along the top of the bar shelves which I’ve been picking up at flea markets, the Armée du Salut and Emmaus but I’ve still got to figure the rest out.

DIY decor

DIY bar decorAs you can tell, there’s quite a lot of work left to be done but at least now you know what I’ve been spending pretty much 400% of my time on.

It’s really coming to life and I’m so excited to have a physical space to showcase DIY decor stuff and most importantly, have somewhere where you lot can come and taste my recipes (on the weekends at least)!

a DIY restaurantI’ll be sharing lots more as it comes – lots of fun DIY stuff (that would work at home, too) and lots of recipes very soon!  I literally cannot wait to tell you more and see how this all develops!

Thank you all for stopping by and above all, thank you for all of your support so far! Things are getting very exciting around here :).

Bon weekend! xS
